Pretzel Park Farmers Market in Manayunk Seeing Vendors
The Pretzel Park Farmers Market is in its fourth year. It is an independent market, not associated with The Food Trust or Farm to City. Pretzel Park is a green space in Manayunk (4300 Silverwood St., Phila. 19127; Green Lane exit of I-76) which was created in 1929, and it also contains a playground and a dog park. The park is primarily used by the people living in Manayunk; however, the market has drawn people from neighboring communities such as Roxborough, East Falls, and Belmont Hills.
The market runs from mid-May to mid-November, Saturdays from 10 am to 2pm. The market also includes a Thanksgiving Day market 2-3 days before Thanksgiving.
The fees are: $35 for food trucks and farmers with multiple tables; $28 on day of market or $25 in advance for small business vendors. Generally, farmers/vendors bring their own tents and tables.
The clientele is primarily made up of local residents who walk to the market. The locals are all across the demographic spectrum: young, old, families, and seniors. On some festival days, the market draws visitors from all other parts of Philadelphia: Old City, West Philly, and Northern Liberties.
Friends of Pretzel Park has programmed a wide variety of entertainment and activities to supplement the Market’s draw: live music, typewriter day, Community Day and events tied to the very popular Pretzel Park Dog Run.
Parking is scarce, but there is space in the Pretzel Park for our farmers/vendors to park.
