HB 1589 Fiscal Code Becomes Law
Last week, House Bill 1589 of the 2015-16 budget became law. This allows for distribution of approximately $25 million of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) budget, which includes $1.5. million for the agriculture research, $5.3 million for the Animal Health Commission, and $5.3 million for the veterinary lab system, as well as funding the Farm Show, livestock shows, and county fairs.
The final budget outcome for Penn State, College of Agricultural Sciences includes $50.5 million for agriculture research and Penn State Extension programs.
