Farm Succession & Transition Workshop

Allentown, PA

PA Farm Link, in partnership with “The Seed Farm”, will be holding a Farm Succession and Transition Program on January 24, 2017 at the Lehigh County Agricultural Center, Allentown, PA.

Professionals in the agricultural industry will be providing valuable information to farm business owners who want to ensure the farm is transitioned to the next generation.

The workshop is presented by PA Farm Link. PA Farm Link, a non-profit dedicated to “Linking Farmers to the Future”, will provide information on various aspects of creating a Farm Business Succession/Transition plan.  Often farm families discuss passing the farm business to the next generation, but get “stuck” on how to proceed.  These workshops will help work through some of the myths and stumbling blocks of moving forward with a farm succession and transition plan.

Topics covered will include: Succession/Transition from a Legal Perspective; Goals & Needs of Farm Family Members; Financial Challenges of Succession Planning; and Challenges and Successes of Farm Succession.  Speakers will include: Ms. Amanda Knackstedt, MidAtlantic Farm Credit; Attorney Jody Leighty, Stock and Leader, and Darlene Livingston, PA Farm Link, and Mr. John Berry, Penn State Extension and IFTN Certified Succession Coordinator.

Speakers will answer participant’s questions and breakout sessions will be held.  Certified International Farm Transition Network facilitators will be available to assist families in planning the next steps.

Included in the workshop is a copy of: “Planning the Future of Your Farm” Pennsylvania Edition (normally sold for $10.60 per copy).

Registration is required by January 20, 2017.  Registration can be completed online at www.pafarmlink.org or through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/farm-succession-transition-workshop-lehigh-county-tickets-29818727617  or by calling (717) 705-2121.

Registration fee:  $10 per individual.  Everyone is encouraged to participate, from farm owners, transitioning generation, to new farmers seeking farmland.
