Octorara Looking to Build Aquaponics Greenhouse on Campus

While Octorara Area High School has one of the most comprehensive high school agriculture education programs in the region, it strives to continue to build upon that success. The district is now considering partnering with a private-based Delaware firm called Enivsta Farms. The proposal, which includes a 45,000 square foot greenhouse, would focus on an aquaponics system with the intent to grow tilapia and basil. Envista currently runs a growing operation at Cheyney University which contracts products to grocery stores such as Wegmans.

The on-campus partnership would provide students with both educational and work experience from the development of detailed business plans to selling from farm to market.
